Former President Trump: We Know Who Killed Ashli Babbitt

On August 11 (Wednesday), former US President Donald Trump spoke by phone with the family of Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt who was shot dead at the Capitol during the US Capitol riot incident. January 6 of this year. Mr. Trump then claimed to know who shot Ms. Ashli and that justice must be done, so that extreme leftists do not commit crimes with impunity.

Ashli Babbitt, 35, has served in the US Air Force for 14 years and is a Trump supporter. She was shot dead by a congressional police officer during a riot at the Capitol on January 6 of this year. So far, the Justice Department and the US Congress have not revealed who fired the gun, nor have they charged who is responsible for Ashli’s death.

On August 11 (Wednesday), former President Trump said in a statement: “I spoke with the wonderful mother and devoted husband of Ashli Babbitt, who was murdered by someone who was not should touch the trigger. We know who he is.”

Mr. Trump later said that he and many people know who killed Ashli, because Ashli’s victim is a Trump supporter, the issue cannot be stopped. Mr. Trump called for Ashli to be brought to justice: “If that happens on the ‘other side’, there will be riots all over America. But those who truly love America like Ashli outnumber those on the other side. The radical leftist haters [who shot Ashli] cannot be allowed to go free. Justice must be served!”

During the Capitol Hill event on January 6, Ashli followed the flow of people into the Capitol and reached the front door of the Capitol, when she poked her head through the door and was shot by a police officer inside. Ashli was then taken to Washington Hospital Center where she died.

According to Washington Examiner, former President Trump revealed at a press conference in early July related to the class action lawsuit against Facebook, Twitter and Google that he knew the name of the police officer who shot Ashli, but he did not say it.

Mr Trump said at the time: “People are being treated very unfairly, when you look at the people in the prison, there is absolutely no Antifa, even though they burn the city and kill people. There are no guns in the Houses of Parliament…except for the gun that killed Ashli Babbitt, no one knows who that person is… If the situation were otherwise, that man would be dead – he would be the most famous – I can say the word ‘man’ because I believe I know exactly who he is – (if the other way around) he would be the most famous person in this country, [even] in the whole world. gender”.

Attorney Roberts (Terry Roberts) of the Babbitt family is preparing to file a lawsuit against the Congressional Police Department and the police officer involved over death by negligence and asking for $10 million in damages.

Attorney Roberts pointed out that the officer did not give any verbal warning before opening fire. Earlier this month, he told RealClearInvestigations: “This [shooting] has no controversy, no warning.”

Roberts said that the officer not only failed to warn Ashli Babbitt in advance, but “ambushed” Ashli from a side she couldn’t see. The video that day also shows the officer holding the gun and stepping aside, then pointing the gun at Ashli and gunfire is heard.

The officer’s attorney, Mark Schamel, disputed Roberts’ claims, saying at the time the officer shouted a warning, but could not be seen in the video because the officer was wearing a mask.

While Attorney Roberts countered that his team had examined the video carefully, no other police officers had responded. “Those other police officers were all within audible range,” he said. If he yelled, why didn’t they react?”

In April of this year, the Justice Department denied charges against the officer charged in the Babbitt murder, and after investigation determined that there was “insufficient evidence to support criminal prosecution.”

The congressional police and the House of Representatives Special Committee also keep the identities of the police officers involved at all times confidential. Ashli Babbitt’s family and some Republicans say they are so angry about this, they believe Congress and the federal government are covering up the case.
