Last month, a 2 month old Chihuahua, a dog named Lundy, was taken to a Mia Foundation animal rescue center in New York (USA). Since birth, the Lundy dog has been paralyzed by an injury to the spine.
(The Mia Foundation – a nonprofit organization in Rochester, New York, was formed to raise funds to support animals with physical disabilities and help them recover quickly.)
Perhaps because of each other’s sympathy, this little dog quickly became friends with one of the centre’s oldest “residents”, the Herman – a pigeon but unable to fly. OKAY.
The couple are not the same species, but this same situation quickly became an intimate couple inseparably together! Although everyone has their own crate, Lundy always “crawls” to Herman’s crate to play with friends.
Ms Sue, founder of the Mia Foundation, said: “I tried putting the Herman pigeon on Lundy’s bed and started taking care of Lundy. Then I tried to bring the 2 animals together. How wonderful it was when they immediately tangled together, looking so cute. “
“Herman is a dove, it’s very likely that her motherhood instincts emerged while being with Lundy,” Sue also shared in an interview with the Metro newspaper.

Currently, this “situation couple” is becoming more and more close. Both are happier and more active. But next time they will probably have to be far apart.
While Herman pigeons will remain a permanent resident of the center, the rescuers plan to treat Lundy and find him a wheelchair with his adopter.
“Currently, Lundy only weighs about 1 pound (less than 0.5 kg) so he cannot use a wheelchair …
We mostly take care of and help animals that have difficulty, or have disabilities since birth like Herman, for example, this bird cannot fly. But sometimes the center also offers treatment for some animals injured by humans such as birds and squirrels, ”said Ms. Sue.
