Roxy Danckwerts is the founder of Wild Is Life, a wildlife sanctuary located in Zimbabwe.
One day (2/2014), while Roxy was working, she found a stray baby elephant separated from the herd. The little elephant is about to drown when his herd crosses the river and leaves them behind.
At that time, the elephant was only a few days old, in a very low weight state, only about 56 kg while normally a baby African elephant would weigh around 90-100 kg. His health appeared to be very poor and in critical condition.
In addition, in addition to the seizures and trauma she suffered during her drowning, during the first weeks of treatment, the baby elephant’s health was so poor that no one thought he could survive the attack. this disease.
Since then, Roxy decides to take care of this animal, she also named it Moyo, which in African means “From the heart” and does her best to help him regain his health as before.

Từ một chú voi ốm yếu, Moyo nhờ vào sự chăm sóc và tình yêu thương của Roxy, nó đã dần hồi phục và khỏe mạnh trở lại

Roxy gave Moyo 18 liters of dedicated milk per day and the couple spent a lot of time together. Roxy even sleeps with the baby elephant, so it’s no surprise that this elephant is becoming more and more fond of Roxy.
From a sick elephant, Moyo, thanks to Roxy’s care and love, gradually recovers and becomes healthy again, now Moyo loves to wrap her tangerine and follow her wherever she goes.
So far, the baby elephant Moyo is 5 years old. Rescuers once returned to the shores of Lake Kariba (where the elephant was lost) to find a family for him, but the search seems futile as there is no clue of an elephant. come and go in this area.
Even so, for the current Moyo, finding a herd was no longer important to him. Moyo is very happy to be attached to her savior Roxy and often considers her as his second mother.
At no time has the elephant followed her, and it is also the sweetest thing the two have for each other. However, Moyo was growing up quickly and Roxy’s house was no longer a suitable place for this animal to live.
But even though she was taken outside to play inside the wildlife sanctuary to be more spacious and comfortable, Moyo seemed not to be interested in herself and wanted to enjoy life inside. from home with Roxy.
This cute elephant regularly visits the kitchen, chews peanuts, brownies, salt, and loves silverware.
There was a time when near drowning while crossing a river left poor Moyo with severe psychological damage and fear of swimming. However, Roxy has always been by her side to help her recover from 15 months of therapy, and so far Moyo has finally overcome her fear.

Từng có một thời gian việc suýt chết đuối khi băng qua sông khiến chú voi Moyo tội nghiệp bị tổn thương tâm lý nặng nề và rất sợ bơi lội.

Perhaps it is Roxy’s love and care that helps Moyo recover and become the happiest elephant, even though she had an unhappy childhood and was not with her real herd. .
