Washington Post: Virus from the lab is no longer a conspiracy theory

Regarding the origin of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the US left-wing press has recently had a strong shift. The famous left-wing newspaper “Washington Post” even quietly removed the word “conspiracy theory” when it corrected an article more than a year ago. This shows that the claim that the virus leaked from the laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology is no longer a “conspiracy theory”, but just a question that needs to be investigated.

This article of the Washington Post was published on February 17, 2020. This article’s website doesn’t show the last update time, but its “Correction Statement” was probably posted on June 1 (Tuesday). Because “The Hill” and “Fox News” soon discovered this and reported the correction on June 1, many media channels later noticed and competed to report. This shows that the correction of the Washington Post is very directional.

The original title of this article when it was first published in February 2020 was “Tom Cotton continues to repeat the debunked corona virus conspiracy theory”. Now the title has been changed to “Tom Cotton continues to repeat the sideline theory about corona virus that scientists are debating”. The terms “debunked” and “conspiracy theory” in the title of the original post have been removed.

The Washington Post issued a “Correction Statement,” reminding readers that this article has been altered. The first version of this story and its title incorrectly described Senator Tom Cotton’s comments about the origin of the coronavirus, the statement said. The terms “exploited” and “conspiracy theory” used by the Washington Post have been removed because the virus’s origin is still unknown before and now.

The Washington Post presumably added a corrected statement on June 1, 2021, showing that the virus leak in the Wuhan lab is no longer a “conspiracy theory”. (Screenshot of the Washington Post website)

This article initially denied the allegation that the virus leaked from the laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, China. The article quoted Republican Federal Senator Tom Cotton. In an interview with Fox News, Mr. Tom Cotton explained that the theory that the virus leaked from the laboratory is reasonable. Because Wuhan, where the virus originated, has “the only super-level P4 biosafety laboratory in China that studies human infectious diseases.”

After the Biden administration came to power, they rejected the theory that the virus leaked from the lab. But recently they suddenly changed direction. A report in the “Wall Street Journal” said that three researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology had symptoms consistent with Covid-19. A month later, China announced that it had recorded its first case of being diagnosed with Covid-19. After reading this report, President Biden immediately directed US intelligence agencies to determine the possible cause of the virus and report their findings within 90 days.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Biden administration’s chief infectious disease adviser, has always denied that the virus leaked from the lab. To this day he has also changed his tune and said that the natural evolution of the virus could not convince him.

The Washington Post’s abrupt shift and the recent re-awareness of the Biden administration’s origins of the virus may be due to internal ties. Currently, the United States and other international agencies are actively investigating the possibility of the virus escaping from the Wuhan Laboratory. This is no longer considered reluctant and unreliable.

Facebook, the social media giant, also corrected a step earlier than the Washington Post. Last week, Facebook announced that it would not remove or label content citing virus theories leaked from the lab as “misinformation”. For more than a year, Facebook has used the excuse of “authentication” to block the virus theory from this lab.
